Mangaluru, Oct 18: The first additional and sessions court sentenced a man, who had murdered his wife with a sword, for life and also slapped a fine of Rs one lac, in its verdict that was given on Thursday, October 17.
William Lobo (37), a resident of Bettadakadu of Somwarpet taluk is the person who was sentenced and fined for killing his wife Blossom Lobo (30). If the convict fails to pay the fine amount, he has to serve one more year in the prison. The court has recommended the district law service authority to provide suitable compensation to the boy child of the couple.

William Lobo and Blossom Lobo couple were residing in a rented house belonging to Janardhan Amin, a resident of Paldadi in Kodikal in the city. William was working as a driver in Bengaluru and Blossom was working in a private company in Mangaluru.
On the night of August 18, 2017, at around 9.30 pm William had come to his rented house in Kodikal in a rickshaw. He had asked the rickshaw driver to park the vehicle a little away from the house. He had decided to kill his wife and had come with a sword for the same reason. As soon as he entered the house, he had locked the main door from inside and started to slash his wife with sword. When the owner of the house and neighbours came running on hearing the screams of Blossom, they saw her lying in a pool of blood. They informed the matter to the police.
William had escaped through the rear door of the rented house and had gone to the Urwa police station and surrendered himself. Inspector Ravish Nayak, then serving at Urwa police station had submitted the charge sheet. 26 eye witnesses were cross examined during the court proceedings. Circumstantial evidences proved played a vital role in proving the crime.
The verdict was given by justice Sharada B. Public Prosecutor Raju Poojary Bannadi had argued for the prosecution.
