Kundapur, Oct 17: Maravanthe resident Dhanvi, who won gold medal in Yoga carnival held in Malaysia on October 12 and 13 was accorded a grand welcome on her return here on Thursday, October 17. She was welcomed at Shastri circle and taken in procession in open jeep through main market in the city.
Eleven-year-old Dhanvi Poojary had won a gold medal in Athletic Yoga championship division and a silver medal in Artistic Yoga championship in Tracks International Yoga carnival held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia by SGS Institute of Yoga Foundation and Research Center.
Dhanvi, who has won several prizes in Yoga competitions despite financial constraints, had obtained letter of qualification in 10 to 12 age division in fifth national athletic yogasana competitions held at Freedom Park, Bengaluru on the September 18. She performed Veerabhadrasana for one and a half minute and received accolades in her attempt to create world record winning fourth position in global Yoga festival held in Chennai on the September 24 and 25. She received invitation to participate in Kuala Lumpur yoga festival on the basis of those achievements.
She is getting trained by Yoga teacher Subbayya Devadiga of Navunda who has trained several students and helped them shine on national level. Dhanvi has mastered excellence in about 20 Yoga postures.
Dhanvi who is a sixth standard student in Don Bosco School Trasi is multi-talented. She is bright in studies and extracurricular activities. She has received training by Miracle Dance Troupe lead of Pravin of Kundapur, given dance performances and won prizes. She is good in acting also. She played a small role in recently released film ‘Girmit’ of Ravi Basrur and ‘Mookajjiya Kanasugalu’ by P Sheshadri. She has an important role in short film ‘Nidhaana Illave Nidhana’ by Shashidhar Gujjadi.
She is the daughter of Shivamastimane, Maravanthe residents Chandrashekar Poojary and Jyothi couple. Her elder brother Vedanth is studying in class 9. One of her two elder sisters is differently abled. Her parents are daily wage construction workers. Several groups and associations had helped Dhanvi to take part in the competition held in Malaysia. She is getting praises in large number over social network.
