Indian citizens advised by Consulate travel insurance before travelling to UAE

Dubai, Oct 15: The Consulate-General of India on Monday reminded all Indians travelling to UAE to take travel insurance so that in case of any emergency, their expenditure can be covered.

The consulate on Monday tweeted "The Consulate keeps receiving various requests from Indians visiting UAE seeking assistance to meet unforeseen medical expenditure or repatriation expenses due to a medical condition or accident. In all such cases, the Consulate tries to help distressed Indians within the means provided by the Government of India. Much expenditure, however, do not fall under our scope."

"It is therefore advised that all Indian nationals who are travelling to the UAE for visit or tourism purpose should take adequate insurance cover including for medical purposes for the duration of their stay/visit in the UAE,” it added.

Hospitalization expenses are very costly in the UAE and a lot of Indians who do not have travel insurance suffer, when they require medical treatment during their visit to the country.
