Mangaluru, Oct 12: Sarvotham Shetty, Abu Dhabi, was conferred with Rangachavadi Award at townhall by Rangachavadi, art and cultural organization. Shetty is the pioneer, who has given elaborate identity to the cultural beauty of the coastal region of Karnataka in the Gulf countries.
Addressing the gathering, veteran scholar, retired chancellor of Kannada University, Dr B A Vivek Rai said, “The work done by local Tuluvas residing abroad who have spread our culture there is commendable. Their love to this land even after staying abroad is praiseworthy.”
Sarvotham Shetty responding to the felicitation said that all those who work for the growth of Tulu and Kannada languages in the gulf country deserve the honour. “It is commendable that Rangachavadi is identifying artistes and felicitating them every year,” he said.
Film producer Dr Sanjiva Dandakeri who presided over the programme said that Gammath artistes of Dubai have performed ‘Bayya Mallige’ drama in Dubai and received laurels. “It is praiseworthy that they are coming to Mangaluru and enacting the drama here,” he said.

V G Pal welcomed the gathering and Nithesh Shetty Ekkar rendered the vote of thanks. Navin Shetty Edmemar compered the programme. Dr Sanjiva Dandakeri’s ‘Bayya Mallige’ drama directed by Vishwanath Shetty was later staged for the gathering.
