Bengaluru, Oct 11: The special court of people's representatives slapped a fine on Member of Parliament (MP) Shobha Karandlaje and also gave her conditional bail on Friday, October 11, in a case pertaining to defamation.
Popular Front of India (PFI) organization had filed a case against MP Shobha of defaming the organization. Shobha had applied for bail on Thursday. The court heard the bail application of Shobha on Friday. P Prasanna Kumar arguing for Shobha had appealed to the court to give the MP the bail in the case. The court, which upheld the appeal of the lawyer, fined Rs 200 and ordered to furnish a personal bond of Rs 50,000 and cash security of Rs 10,000. Shobha Karandlaje was personally present in the court for the hearing.
MP Shobha Karandlaje had accused that Mansoor Khan, CEO of the tainted IMA company, which was allegedly involved in multi-crore scam of cheating its investors, was using the investor's money for the activities of PFI. She had urged for an investigation in this matter at a press conference.
The PFI organization had filed a case of defamation against the MP. As Shobha did not appear in the court in spite of notice, the court had issued a warrant.
