Dubai, Oct 10: UAE’s most awaited Konkani literature and musical extravaganza ‘Geet Gazaal 2.0’ is buzzing around UAE and creating new sensation of excitement in Konkani music and poem lovers.
Konkani’s ace poet Melvyn Rodrigues is the centre of attraction in Geet Gazaal 2.0 to be held on November 1 at Emirates Theatre Dubai.
The show has been patronized by News Karnataka.
Poet Melvyn is well known name in Indian poetic field, and he has won several honors including international felicitations and prestigious Sahitya Akademi award for his exceptional writing abilities.
Geet Gazaal 2.0 comprises of interaction session with poet Melvyn, live singing of songs where the lyrics of the song are penned by him, artistic fusion of drama and dance for his songs by Gavin Rodrigues of Dance Plus fame.
Many prestigious businesspersons from UAE have joined their hands for Geet Gazaal 2.0 and extended their support towards Konkani literature and culture. The organizers of the event are likeminded executives working in UAE who came together to work in one aim to make Geet Gazaal 2.0 a huge success and promote their intention of spreading the beauty of Konkani poetry among Konkani speaking of UAE.
The show will be commencing at sharp 5.30 pm on November 1 and expected to attract around 600 music lovers of UAE. As per organizers, many of the tickets have been booked by people and demand will go up in coming days.
Team Geet Gazaal is grateful to its sponsors who helped wholeheartedly to show case Geet Gazaal 2.0. All performance is presented by UAE resident local artistes. Band Open High will present music and Broad Way events are taken the responsibility of providing lights and sounds.
About Melvyn Rodrigues - Konkani poet, writer and lyricist
Melvyn Rodrigues is the most prominent and well-known name in Konkani literature world which is spread across the globe. His mesmerizing writing skills in various fields of literature such as poems, stories, articles, essays and as lyricist for music album songs has created sensation in Konkani literary world as well as music.
Born on July 8, 1962, in the coastal belt of Mangaluru, Melvyn perused his Masters in Arts and served in Middle East for more than 15 years. Being a busy person due to his professional life, he never missed spending his time writing for Konkani and his write-ups have given him several appreciation and honours for his work which is par excellence.
