Kasargod, Oct 9: Leader of the opposition in the state assembly, Ramesh Chennithala, warned that conspiracies are being hatched to disturb peace in Manjeshwar assembly constituency. He predicted that the result of the by-poll will provide a fitting reply to the people who are planning to create communal disharmony.
Chennithala was addressing a press meet on the occasion of his visit to Manjeshwar constituency to undertake election campaigning for United Democratic Front (UDF) candidate.
"Karnataka state president of BJP, Nalin Kumar Kateel, had issued a statement during the electioneering at Uppala with the specific aim of vitiating communal harmony. BJP's strategy is to create a wedge between people of different faiths and get votes," he opined.
Chennithala noted that UDF and the BJP are involved in a direct fight in Manjeshwar and that Left Democratic Front (LDF) candidate is fighting for the third spot. "Both the BJP candidate and LDF candidate have several similarities. Their aim is to mislead the voters," he opined.
When questioned whether Manjeshwar LDF candidate, Shankar Rai, shares the same view as that of the chief minister on the issue of Sabrimala shrine, Chennithala wanted the concerned to provide clarification to the people on the stands they own on this issue.
Chennithala said that if the UDF rises to power in the 2021 state assembly election, it will issue an ordinance on Sabrimala, duly asserting that UDF has always been in favour of the Sabrimala devotees.
