Goa: NH66 expansion work in full swing, PWD says 50% work complete

Panaji, Sep 7: As per principal, chief engineer of PWD, Uttam Parsekar, highway expansion work, including the new Zuari bridge, on NH66 is 50% complete.

The four and six laning is part of the central ministry's road transport and highways’ plan to widen NH-66 from Panvel to Kanyakumari. The entire project is being funded by the union government through the road transport ministry and the National Highways Authority of India. As reported in TOI, Parsekar told the publication, “Work on the new Zuari bridge is 40% complete on the northern side and 60% on the southern side. The overall progress is 50%.”

The highway expansion plan has been planned keeping in mind the projected growth of traffic up to 2030. On NH-66, six-lane roads will come up over rivers and in areas where land is available and where traffic is less, the road will be four lanes.
