Kundapur: Leopard creating panic caught by forest department

Kundapur, Oct 6: A leopard, which was causing panic among the locals residing in Thekkatte near here, was caught in the cage that was kept by the forest department. 

This leopard was seen frequently in the acacia and mango tree orchard that is situated adjacent to the Malady Higher Primary School under Thekkatte gram panchayat limits. The villagers, who were scared, had appealed to the forest department to catch the same.

 

 

The forest department personnel kept a cage near the school a month ago and were waiting for the leopard to visit the area. Accordingly, at around 10 am on Sunday, October 6, the male leopard, which about 10 years of age, got stuck in the cage. Last year also one leopard was caught in the same locality by by the forest department by keeping a trap. 

So far five leopards have been caught in this locality.

    Sanjay Gandhi, National park, in the heart of a bustling forest, is threatened with depleting forest cover, as more and more land is being encroached, on a daily basis, aided by scheming politicians and greedy builders lobby !!!!! This is an tiny oasis, of wildlife, like leopards, boars, deers, reptiles and snakes...... These animals have no place to go.... destruction of this precious nature reserve will certainly ring the death knell for Mumbai... yesterday, authorities chopped 2500 trees over night to facilitate Metro railways... We humans will face the harsh music of nature's backlash...... global warming, is the result of destroying green resources....

    How can people allow such animals (leopard/cheetah free to move around and attempt to attack who ever comes on their way ? suggestions are many and easy to express love them and do not beat these beasts. Anyone would get scare and run for cover to avoid these animals whatever way they can. We have to blame de forestation for such problems.

    People,

    Every time Leopard is caught in the cage...they get hurt by aggressively trying to escape...we need to change the design of the Cage...so hurt is less for Leopards...

    They don't get enough food in the forest...so they come to villages to hunt domestic dogs and Chicken...We cut trees in forest thus reducing wild fruits...thus deriving food to many forest animals ...on which these Leopard depend for food...

    Leopards too have a right to live like us humans ....

    My my my , he is a huge guy good he was caught before he could have attacked humans . Once he get too old not able to catch a robust animals he could have turned to humans and become man eater . Congratulations to department .

    Hi Forest department

    Please dont beat or harm the animal, they dont have inhalf food in forest that is the reason they come out for food but our great people beat them throw stone make them upset they get aggressive, our indian ppl are hate crime for animal .. give them love they never harm anyone.. but our people always arm the animal ..stop this crime .. animal are nature ...

    live the animal free and love them ..
