Kuwait, Oct 5: Former popular IPS officer Annamalai Kuppusami was one of the chief guests at ‘Karunada Dindima’ organised by Bharatiya Pravasi Parishad (Karnataka Wing) to mark the Karnataka Rajyostava and Diwali on Friday, October 4 at the American International School, Kamel Al Rayes Auditorium, Maidan Hawally, Kuwait. In his speech Annamalai praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said India has attained the highest respect under his leadership in the entire globe.
In the whole programme former IPS officer Annamalai become the centre of attraction. He was given a very warm welcome by audience with a loud applause. People were overwhelmed to see him, and organizers faced difficulties to control the crowd. Annamalai received standing ovation during honouring and his every word and move was responded by a thunderous applause and huge overwhelming screams.
“I have been trained to think and believe like Kannadiga though I was not born in Karnataka. I used to tell the same to the people who were recruited later. Spirit of Karnataka is very important when one lives and works in Karnataka. Truth, honour and courage are the most important things a police should follow as well as all people. Two politicians from Karnataka who have come here, Umanath Kotian and Bharath Shetty, are different and from the new breed of politicians. When we come from India, your first question is how we are and the next question how is India? I am saying India is superfine and shining.” Annamalai said.
“There is Tsunami in India under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. When there is Tsunami, there is change in movement of tectonic plates. When great leaders rile, such things happen. When Ashoka, Maurya, Babar and Akbar ruled in India, such developments were noticed. Same thing is happening now. The fundamentals of the country are changing now,” he added.
“There is a change in India. Servant leadership has come. These leaders are different unlike in the past. They are the servants of people first and then politicians. This is the positive change Modi has bought to India,” Annamalai said.
“When Modi visits foreign countries, we see the warm welcome he gets there. No one in the past got such special welcome. When he attended Howdy Modi event last month in Texas, 59.000 were present. Normally such crowd is not seen anywhere in the USA. The largest crowd they get is around 10,000 people. Even USA President does not see a crowd above that. This explains the popularity of our Prime Minister and the respect India has attained in the recent years. Trump decides to attend Modi event and sits there as an audience. Why did he do so?, because he knows the value of India. It is a blessing to be Indian in India as well as a blessing to be an Indian outside India like you people are,” he continued.
“The soldiers are pride of India as they guard the nation. They do a lot for the country. The next who work hard for the nations are expatriates like you. You work and send dollars to the county. We have a surplus of foreign currency to the tune f US $ 400 billion which acts as a cushion at times of economic crisis. This is the power of expatriates. Hence we managed the recent petrol crisis effectively,” he informed.
“The Indians are looked in differently these days in foreign countries including Europe and USA. They command more respect. You can feel it everywhere ne including at immigration counters,” he said.
“NRIs are soft covers and ambassadors of the nation. All Kuwait Indians are great ambassadors of the special country India. You work in 47 degree Celsius heat. Only people with vision and courage leave the country. I am thankful for Kuwait Kannadigas for arranging such a beautiful programme. I have never seen such meticulous planning,” he opined.
“A day will come and you will feel proud to come back to India where there will be opportunity for your special skills. And the day is not far with the speed of development happening in India.” Annamalai said.
The programme was also attended by advocate Sumod, Sathishchandra Shetty, Fr Dominic Sequeira, Second Secretary (Consular) Ranveer Bharti, Mulky Moodbidri MLA Umanath Kotian, Mangaluru North MLA Dr Bharath Shetty, Prof Krishne Gauda, presidents of TKK, KCWA, KKMA, Bhantara Sangha, Billava Sangha and Raj Bhandari.
