Bengaluru, Oct 6: It is learnt that officers of National Investigation Agency (NIA) have arrested four suspected terrorists, belonging to Hizbul Muzahiddin organization, who planned to carry out bomb blast during the Dasara celebrations in the city of Mysuru.
It is said that the terrorists were hiding in Srirangapatna. The sleuths of NIA were able to trace and arrest them successfully, it is learnt.
The union home ministry had alerted the state intelligence department of the possibility of terrorists carrying out bomb blast during the Dasara celebrations. It has come to light that the terrorists had hatched plan to carry out bomb blast using a satellite phone during Dasara celebrations. The officials of NIA were able to trace the hideout of the suspected terrorists using the satellite phone signal.
It is said that the arrested persons are Pakistani nationals of Karachi origin. The arrested accused persons have beem taken to a secret place by the investigating officers. However, the local police are not confirming the arrest of suspected terrorists.
In the meantime, central intelligence had alerted the state to be on high alert in all the sensitive areas of the state, including Mysuru. The central intelligence had got the information of the usage of prohibited satellite phones in areas of Beltangady in the district of Dakshina Kannada, K R Pet of Mandya district, Holenarasipura, Udupi and Karwar in the month of August and September. NIA was on intense search for the terrorists since one and a half months.
