Goa: Lightening strikes mobile phone of tourist who dies

Goa, Oct 5: A tourist from New Delhi died at Candolim beach after his mobile was struck by lightening.

The incident happened at about 3.30 pm on Friday. 35 year-old Chaitanya Nagpal carried his mobile close to his chest when a bolt of lightning struck the ground. Seby D’Souza, vice-president of Shack Owners Welfare Society who was present at the place, reportedly said that no ambulance was available to take the victim to the hospital.

Candolim primary health centre where he was taken to later declared that he was already dead. Taruna, his wife who was injured when the lightning struck is undergoing treatment in the hospital.
