Mangaluru, Oct 5: The customs officials at Mangaluru International Airport here have taken into custody three air passengers for allegedly trying to smuggle gold into the country. Gold worth about Rs 25 lac was seized from their possession, reports stated.
During the checking of passengers, 493.76 grams of gold was seized in the form of paste from a passenger on October 3. On September 30, three gold chains in raw form weighing 143.48 grams and a bracelet weighing 32.30 grams were seized from two women passengers.
The total value of gold seized in these cases has been estimated at Rs 24.96 lac. Te authorities who have taken the passengers into custody have been investigating the matter further.
