Mumbai, Oct 5: A husband-wife duo from Mumbai, with MBA degrees, has taken to selling food by the roadside not as a means of making additional money but to serve the people. The couple, Ashwini Shenoy Shah and her husband, sell food from 4 am to 10 am everyday near Kandivali railway station here before heading to their respective jobs in private companies.
Recently, a Facebook account holder, identified as Deepali Bhatia, accidentally came to know about this unique couple. On October 2 early morning this year, she had gone out for food when she saw the two, who were selling good food. The food on sale was Upma, Idli, Parathas, Poha etc. Deepali later hailed the couple's noble work in social media post.
Deepali acknowledges that the couple has been showing to the busy citizens of Mumbai who think they do not have time, that it is not so. She appreciates them for putting interests of others over their own. "We went in search of good food early morning on October 2 and stumbled upon the stall outside Kandivali railway station. A look at the couple running this small stall made us to believe that they must be from Gujarat. I talked to them and realized that they were doing some service that was so inspirational," she stated.
She says that the couple belongs to a well-to-do family and that they were selling food cooked by the female cook of the family aged 55, whose husband is down with paralysis. They told her that they sell these items on behalf of the said cook from 4 to 10 am and then leave for their offices. They have been working to support their cook to ensure that she does not have to run from pillar to post to make both ends meet.
The couple emerges as motivating forces from among lacs of people who relentlessly chase their dreams of accumulating more wealth, having no regard to the plight of others. May noble people like them proliferate and teach others to vibe for the pains of others.
