Abu Dhabi, Sep 28: The Abu Dhabi Municipality, in a clarification, has said that people of all communities and religion will be able to cremate their dear and near ones in the capital and everyone is free to perform the rituals associated with the funeral. The municipality had previously announced that all residents are free to express their religion.
As reported in Khaleej Times, director of the public health department at the municipality, Dr Saeed Mohammed Qarwash Al Rumaithi said that grave sites are allocated to each community and religion. "The burial and funeral services provided by the department of Public Health to non-Muslims embody the vision of the leadership in respecting people and religions in line with the Year of Tolerance. Graves are also laid out and constructed in accordance with the beliefs of the communities," he said.
Al Rumaithi said, "Through such initiatives, the Abu Dhabi Municipality is considered a pioneer in this area."
