Goa: RTO plans to implement token system to provide HSRP

Daijiworld Media Network - Panaji (SR)

Panaji, Sep 26: The Goa regional transport offices (RTO) has decided to adopt a token system for the installation of high security registration plates (HSRP) to avoid chaos and rush. Now, the vehicle owners can get the plates fitted on their vehicles as per the prior booked appointment date from their respective RTOs.

By implementing the token system we can avoid long queues, since we already know the total number of vehicles that will require HSRP installation. Only those vehicle owners will then receive a token and the plates will be fitted after they pay the fee,” said a transport department official.

The official told TOI reporters that the streamlining will ensure only a certain number of vehicles are catered to in a day. “We have allotted a space to the contractors at the Panaji RTO as per the directions of the directorate of transport. They will only accept payment here and hand over the receipt and token. The vehicle owner will have to then go to Porvorim for installation,” an RTO official said, as reported in TOI.

As per the report, the Panaji RTO has already begun preparing for the new system. The token system will be followed at all RTOs and installations will be done on the premises based on the prior appointment.
