Panaji: IMD records Tuesday as driest of monsoon season

Panaji, Sep 25: India meteorological department (IMD) has recorded Tuesday as the driest day of the season after the onset of monsoon. As per IMD, none of the 12 centres recorded even a trace of rainfall on Tuesday.

IMD has also forecasted light to moderate rainfall from Wednesday to Friday with a possibility of heavy rainfall in isolated places as the cyclonic circulation will move toward Karnataka in a few days. The coastal region will get heavy rain accompanied by a powerful wind.

IMD, Panaji recorded hardly one mm of rainfall in the previous 24 hours till Monday morning. IMD, Panaji had issued the alert after the cyclonic circulation in the Bay of Bengal was expected to influence precipitation in the western region. “The monsoon current is not active,” IMD director Krishnamurty Padgalwar said, as per TOI report.
