Kasargod, Sep 20: MP of Kasargod, Raj Mohan Unnithan began a day-long hunger protest from 9 am over negligence of damaged national highway by the centre and national highway authority.
The protest was inaugurated by former minister C T Ahmedali in Kasargod new bus stand. The conclusion of the protest will be inaugurated tomorrow by opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala at 9 am tomorrow.
“The condition of Talapady-Kasargod and Nileshwara-Kalikadavu national highway is pathetic. Though officials assure of repairs, the work is still not begun. The government at the center is quiet about Kasargod national highway. Potholes form on the highway during every monsoon and only minor repairs are undertaken. The officials do not opt for permanent solution,” alleged the MP.
He warned of fast until death if the repairs are not taken up. DCC president Hakim Kunnil presided. M C Khamuruddin, C K Sridharan, K Neelakantan, A Govindan Nayar, K P Kunhikattan, Kallatra Mahin Haji, Harish Nambiar, P A Ashrafali and others were present.
