Fine AED 3,000 on abandoned vehicles parked in Abu Dhabi streets

Abu Dhabi, Sep 13: Authorities warn motorists who abandon their cars on roads for several weeks, to be prepared to pay a fine of AED 3,000.

The officials have claimed that abandoned cars accumulate dirt on them after being parked for several weeks. This action leads to impounding of cars. Further, authorities have alleged that such vehicles ruin the city's appearance and pollute the environment.

On a daily basis, the municipality inspectors monitor the streets for the abandoned vehicles. If a vehicle is considered in violation, they monitor it for two weeks. After two weeks, a notice is placed on the vehicle requesting the owner to remove the vehicle. If the vehicle remains unclaimed, the officials tow it after 24 hours.

However, the owner can pay AED 1,500 if they clear the fines within 30 days of the car being towed.
