Mangaluru, Sep 13: The director of Tulu movie Girgit, Roopesh Shetty regretted for defaming lawyer fraternity in his movie and stated that the role was an imaginary one and was not intentionally done to hurt any profession.

Addressing press meet on Friday, September 13, Roopesh said, "Girgit is a complete entertainer. The role played in the movie is imaginary. There was no intention to hurt any profession by any means in our movie. We will respect the court’s order and abide by the law.”

When asked about whether the screening is stopped as of now, Roopesh said, "There is technical problem in it. Lot of procedure has to take place before stopping the screening of the movie. Whatever is the decision of the court, we will respect it.”

“People of Mangaluru have shown lot of love and support for our movie. ‘Girgit’ is doing tremendously well in UAE and Bengaluru,” he said.

It may be recalled that the court had sent a stay order on Thursday over the exhibition of popular Tulu movie 'Girgit'. The order was passed by the junior principal civil judge justice Harish. This is given based on the accusation that the lawyer fraternity has been defamed in the movie.

Choreographer Naveen Shetty, producer Manjunath Attavar and director Rakesh Kadri were also present.

Show the disclaimer at the end of the movie stating:

“This was a work of fiction. Names, characters, businesses, places, events and incidents portrayed in this film were either the products of the screenwriter’s imagination or used in a fictitious manner for comical effect. Any resemblance to actual persons or their professions, living or dead, or actual events was purely coincidental”

With the above no law can then stop the film from screening.
