Udupi, Sep 11: Shravan Kumar alias Shravan Nayak (39), an entrepreneur from Paniyadi here, who had suffered critical injuries in a road accident which happened at Babati in Tanzania, Africa, breathed his last.
Shravan was seriously injured on August 30 after a truck collided with the car in which he was seated. He had been initially admitted into a nearby hospital. For advanced treatment, he was brought here from Tanzania and admitted into a private hospital here on September 7. Without responding to treatment, he passed away on the night of Monday September 10.
Shravan was the son of Pernankila Shankar Nayak, a well-known BJP leader, and younger brother of Pernakila Shreesha Nayak, who is the BJP state Yuva Morcha president. Shravan's elder brother, Sweekar Nayak, operates a business at Tanzania. Shravan along with his wife was on a visit to Tanzania for tour. Although Sweekar and Shravan were seated in the ill-fated car at the time of the accident, Shravan alone had suffered serious injuries.
Shravan was partner of Udbhav Constructions, which lays cable lines. He is survived by mother and wife.
State BJP president, Nalin Kumar Kateel, district president, Mattaru Ratnakar Hegde, MLAs, K Raghupati Bhat and Sunil Kumar, and others visited the residence of Nayak family at Paniyadi and paid last respects to the departed soul. They also consoled the family members. The funeral was conducted at the premises of the ancestral house of the family at Pernankila at night.
