Mangaluru: Pressure mounts on Senthil to withdraw resignation - Officer stays firm

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Sep 9: Officials of various departments and well-wishers made a beeline to the deputy commissioner's bungalow here on Sunday September 8 and pressurized outgoing deputy commissioner of Dakshina Kannada district, Sasikanth Senthil, who has resigned from his post.

Senthil however, stood firm and told them in no uncertain terms that he would not withdraw his resignation letter. He clarified that he finds it impossible to discharge duties by working against the principles he has always believed in. He also said that this is exactly the reason why he decided to step down.

After tendering resignation, he had remained incommunicado on Friday and Saturday. He had visited the office of the deputy commissioner here on Saturday evening and held discussions with the new incumbent in his place. He stayed at the official residence of the deputy commissioner on Sunday.

After holding talks with the officials and well-wishers who came to meet him from Sunday morning to evening, Senthil went away in a private car from the official bungalow in the evening. Sources say that on Monday, he may leave for his native place, Chennai.

During his talk with the well-wishers, Senthil told them that he will take a decision about his future plan in a few days. It is said that he has plans of returning to Karnataka.

Every one knows what Mr.Senthil has done. How much honest he was . If Kumar Swamy government wouldn't fall, he would have continued as DC. Now he is worried thst all his misdeeds will come out .He resigned
But still he has to face the law.

An honest officer of Indian bureucracy has called it quits. It is indeed sad. Shashikant Senthil has really raised an important issue of his inability to work on democratic principles. He said building blocks of democracy are crumbling. We can all see they are crumbling and we talk nothing about it. We all will become Shashikanth Senthill's soon unable to bear the tyranny of the state. Citizens and state are disconnected and they have no say. If timely action is not taken, we will face bleak future. Writing is on the wall for all to see. This country never was run by two and half people. It surprises me how around 400 MPs of the ruling party sing paeans to two people? how they have homogeneity of thought. Have they lost individuality? Have they lost issues that are unique to their constituencies? I am flabbergasted. Very Indian citizen should thing about the choices he makes lest they become their own grave.

If they cannot work under the present government and cannot uphold their so called personal principles , let them leave . No problem . There are so many other people who can come in their place. India has no dearth of good people to take up the public service.

You may not be aware that Delhi CM Sri Kejriwal is an IAS officer, who has become a bone in throat for political parties. Do no belittle their ability.

Kejriwal was in income tax office not IAS.He came to limelight becoz of Anna Hazare..did not contribute for change due to greed. Now civil service people found new route to get political posts by serving as civil servant for 8 to 10 years and try to impress and get fame. Then look for political patronage and get a ministry portfolio.Senthil may fight election in TN as DMK candidate..
Instead of reporting to political bosses, you become the boss.Always better than uneducated and corrupt politicians so long they follow the route of principles.
Goverment should also seriously think about giving them good duration at one plave rather than transferring them like changing shirt. They too have family.
    All the best.

Then Respected Shree Anna Malai, Now Shree Senthi. Also suicide by Avtar Sing, IPS officer because of work pressure. "This makes us to feel how may the system is working". We believe this system we have no other choice. How dangerous this could be if we need to go to the government authorities to seek justice. God Save our country, we need such honest officers.

Mr.Senthil should reveal the actual facts. if he has the guts to resign from his post then what fear he is having to disclose the reason. don't create doubts in the society about you. it is very clear that during earlier govt also there was illegal mining & even now also there but only the difference is govt changed.

As a central government employee a DC must stay politically neutral. He can't voice opinion about political matters that are of concern. Secondly there is tremendous pressure from lobbies in the city who can't do goondagardi.

However, since a new DC for Mangalore is already appointed, there is no sense in withdrawing the resignation. Mangalore lost a honest and strict officer.

We'll remember you always sir. Wishing you good in all your endeavours.

    What is Politically neutral ?
Blindly following the instructions as a puppet ? Fight with tooth and nail with Politicians around ? No in both case. Being an administrative head of the district a DC can very well make sure that his voice is heard through action. After all People are not blind always...

How can you know from Chennai, the problems we Mangaloreans are facing ? He is not ANY officer, he is our DC who tried to set many malpractices right. Who brought many hard core mafia men to knees.

    We will miss him.

Berjar ArockiArotty,Chennai, exactly such a thought like yours makes one not to work. There are of course enough people who are talented ,but not working according to principles.Everywhere one has to work according to higher bosses which may be not as one want.He has resigned because he cant work against principles. So he shouldnt withdraw resignation.Only then they give him free hand and according to his ways which doesnt harm others.,his conscious.we know everywhere there are mostly corrupt ions and under this he doesnt want.finish.

In the interest of society and the nation Mr. Senthil should reveal those incident/facts that forced him to take such extreme decision. No doubt, we are missing a honest officer, but still wonder why he has chosen escapism , instead should have fought from where he is and exposed the black sheep/s.

Why should he revel ? Who will take the gurantee for the safety of him and his family then ? People who push him to revel now will not stand with him then when he will be in problems. We have seen this in many cases. Best example is sanjeev bhat case in gujrat
