Udupi: Winners of ‘Yasho Nandalala’ best photography contest announced

Udupi, Sep 8: The much awaited results of URC presents ‘Yasho Nandalala’ best photography contest are announced. The competition was conducted by Daijiworld Udupi on the occasion of Shri Krishna Janmasthami, for children below 3 years.

Baby Aaradhya R Nayak and her mother Akshatha, residents of Shaktinagar, Mangaluru have emerged as the winners of the contest. They will be awarded cash prize of Rs 3,333 with certificate and trophy.

Baby Mishika Devadiga and her mother Supreetha Devadiga residents of Gundibailu, Udupi and Advitha Pai B.K and her mother Ranjitha Pai, residents of Herga Parkala have secured second and third places respectively. They will be awarded Rs 2,222 and Rs 1,111 respectively, along with certificate and trophy.

Five photographs bagged consolation prizes. The winners are Advith Nayak and mother Mayura from Kukkundoor, Karkala, Manushi Kamath and mother Geetha Kamath from Belvai, Pragvamsha N Thantry and mother Archana N Thantry from Korangrapady, Udupi, Rishika Rajmohanand and mother Suman Pai from Handadi, Brahmavar and Hiranmayee and mother Rajashree Prasanna Kodavoor, Udupi.

The contest received many enthusiastic entries. In the preliminary round, nearly 300 plus entries were received from coastal districts of Udupi and Dakshina Kannada, other districts in the state and even from abroad.

From the shortlisted 23 entries, the esteemed judges picked the top three and five consolation prize winners.

Renowned photo journalist Astro Mohan, photographer Avinash Roche and Daya Kukkaje, photojournalist of Daijiworld.com, Mangaluru were in the panel of judges.

Renowned photo Journalist Astro Mohan said, “Emotions are captured in the photographs. We have seen love and affection between mother and kids, in the photographs. Most of the photos were of good quality. All photos are appreciable.”

Avinash, proprietor of Zion digital studio said, “Daijiworld has received good photos. Earlier, there was not much knowledge about photography. Today, people are getting to know of its importance. Competition was little tough in the context of style and colour contrast. We have chosen according to the criteria of the contest.”

Daya Kukkaje, photojournalist of Daijiworld.com, Mangaluru, opined, “Kids are equal to God. So all are pictures are good. In spite of that, we have selected photos on the basis of rules.”
