Mangaluru: Rainfall picks momentum in coastal Karnataka

Mangaluru, Sep 8: Rainfall in Dakshina Kannada district intensified on Saturday September 7. There have been reports about a number of areas in the district getting good rainfall. 

The rainfall was particularly heavy in and around Subrahmanya in the district. River Kumaradhara, on the bank of which Subrahmanya is located, began to swell by evening. Rainfall was also good in Sullia, Puttur, Beltangady, Bantwal, Venoor, Madanthyar etc. Udupi district received normal rainfall throughout Saturday. 

Fallen tree thoroughly damaged the house and shed belonging to Balegudde Narayan Naik in Kalmadka village. The incident happened at midnight on Friday. In the incident, Narayana Naik, who was sleeping inside his house, suffered injuries to his chest. His wife, Paravathi, was injured in the head. Both were admitted into the government hospital at Sullia immediately after the incident.
