Mangaluru, Sep 7: Landslides were observed at a few places on Shiradi ghat stretch of the national highway 75 between the city and Bengaluru on Friday September 6. Boulders too got deposited near the road at a couple of places. Several boulders rolled down near Marnahalli.
As the boulders were blocked on their descent by the roadside drains, vehicular traffic did not suffer although perception of threat is there if the landslides continue to happen. These landslides have mainly happened between Gundia and Marnahalli. These boulders can pose threat to vehicles at any time.

However, highway officials have assured that there is no need to be apprehensive as two vehicles have been exclusively kept ready for clearing mud, debris and boulders if landslides obstruct traffic on this road.
Sullia
Landslide has occurred at Arekal on Sullia - Kodagu border where a number of huge boulders rolled down the hillock. Hundreds of people have been visiting the spot. This was the spot where this area had suffered deep depression and red alert had been sounded last year. A number of families have been shifted out from here after the previous year's deluge.
