Bengaluru, Sep 6: A youth from the city had the dubious distinction of being the first person to pay a hefty fine in the state of Karnataka, after the revised tariff for traffic rules violation fine was introduced, with an amendment to Motor Vehicles Act.
The city traffic police slapped a fine of whopping Rs 17,000 on this person named Akash on Thursday, September 5.
Akash, who works in a private company at Varthoor was riding his two-wheeler. He was under the influence of alcohol, while he was stopped by the traffic police. The police fined Rs 10,000 for drunken driving, Rs 5,000 for riding without licence and Rs 2,000 for not wearing the helmet.
Akash was caught on Kanakapura road of the city by the police. On investigation, they found that he did not have licence at all to ride the vehicle. In addition, Akash had violated traffic rules at KSIC College Junction at Raghuvanahalli a few days ago.
