Puttur, Sep 5: Regarding the murder of Karthik Suvarna, four people were arrested by Puttur police on Thursday, September 5.
The arrested have been identified as Charan (26), his brother Kiran (36) both from Puttur, Preethesh (28) from Ullalbail and Steevan Monteiro from Attavar. While Charan, Kiran and Preethesh were directly accused in the murder, Steevan was arrested for helping the three accused to hide at his house after committing the crime.
Karthik from Sampya, a Hindu Jagarana Vedike (HJV) activist and office bearer, was brutally murdered around midnight of September 3.

It may be recalled, Ganeshotsava function was in progress at Sampya under Puttur rural police station limits when Charan, Kiran and Preethesh approached Karthik, who was at the function and verbally abused him following which he was stabbed by one of them. The trio then escaped by a car.
Karthik was rushed to Adarsh hospital of the town for further treatment. However, the doctors at the hospital declared him brought dead.
Police investigation is in progress.
