Mangalore, Jul 4: The Popular Front of India (PFI) protested in front of the deputy commissioner’s (DC) office on Friday July 3 demanding that the decision to hike prices of petrol and diesel be revoked immediately.
The protesters demanded that quick action be taken to decrease oil prices and submitted to the DC a letter addressed to the President of India.
Speaking at the protest, Saifulla, regional president, PFI, said, “The price hike is a burden on the common man. The UPA-led central government has disappointed right at the beginning of its rule”.
“The price hikes of Rs 4 and Rs 2 on petrol and diesel respectively, are an encumbrance to the critical situation of India which is facing an economic crisis’, he added.
He said that the PFI had protested against the price hike in all taluks of the state and had sent a request to the President of India already.
Members and office-bearers of PFI were present at the protest.
