Mangaluru, Sep 3: ICYM Cordel unit organised Teachers’ Day Celebration on September 1.
Teachers of the Cordel parish joined the Eucharistic celebration concelebrated by Fr Victor Machado, vicar of Cordel parish and Fr Lawrence Cutinha, assistant parish priest. The liturgy was well organised and conducted by the teachers. After the Eucharistic celebration there was a programme to felicitate the teachers for their relentless service for the society at Frad Saib Hall around 160 teachers participated in the programme. Fr Victor Machado, Fr Lawrence Cutinha, Fr Ashwin Cardoza resident priest, Loy Noronha and Sathurnine Monteiro, vice president and secretary of parish pastoral committee were the dignitaries for the programme.
The programme began with the prayer song led by ICYM members. Sweedal Rasquina spoke about the origin of Teachers’ Day and explained the significance of teachers in daily life. Luviza Dsouza spoke on behalf of all the teachers and exclaimed her heartfelt gratitude towards Cordel parishioners for conducting such programme of recognition and felicitation of teachers.
Fr Victor Machado in his presidential address the gathering at the occasion and said, “All people have goodness in them. It is the right type of teachers who carve out the best out of a student.” He congratulated the youth for planning a wonderful programme for the teachers.
After the inaugural programme, momentous were distributed to all the teachers. The ICYM youth entertained the gathering with variety of dance and songs. Vernon Crasta conducted lucky games for teachers and thanked all the gathering. Meenal Rego compered the programme.
