Gadag, Aug 30: President of Infosys Foundation, Dr Sudha Murthy, visited the Konnura village in the district and surveyed the destruction caused by the recent deluge. She said that the foundation is with the flood victims.
Speaking to the media Dr Sudha Murthy said, "The government has done good relief work for the victims of the recent deluge. We have already distributed relief materials worth Rs 5 crores throughout the state. If the government shows us the land, we will build the houses and give to those who have lost their homes. One house will cost around Rs 10 lac. So, if the government shows that the particular land belongs to a particular victim, then we will build the houses and give,”
"During rain and deluge, people lose all their earnings and property. We will help whatever we can. We will build houses depending upon the number of sites the government provides. Only after the government says that a particular piece of land belongs to a particular victim, we will build the house. It will be difficult if someone says no after we build the house. Accordingly, the victims of the deluge also have to give us a letter stating that the said land belongs to them and they will reside in it. Otherwise many a times it so happens that people will not reside in the house that we build,” she added.
"If the government gives official letter, we will build houses according to our plan. Our contractors will build and give the house. 100 houses can be built in Rs 10 crore. Similarly, if another Rs 10 crore is added total 200 houses can be built." she concluded.
