Bagalakote: Woman subjected to sexual abuse kills in-laws with iron rod

Bagalakote, Aug 30: In a gruesome incident, a woman killed her father-in-law with an iron rod and later took his dead body to the police station on Thursday, August 29. 

The incident happened in Jambagi K D village, Jamakhandi taluk in Bagalakote district. The accused woman identified as Geetha, assaulted her father-in-law Siddarama Malleshanavara with an iron rod and also attacked her mother-in-law Kalavathi when she tried to prevent the attack. Kalavathi who sustained severe injuries was admitted to the hospital, but died without responding to treatment.

According to the police, Geetha attacked her father-in-law as he allegedly harassed her sexually, from a very long time. Though Kalavathi knew about the harassment, she did not object or tried stopping the same. 

Geetha was disgusted and fed-up with the harassment and she fought with her father-in-law on Thursday afternoon. The heated arguments soon turned into a physical fight. 

Geetha then hit her father-in law on the head with an iron rod. This blow killed him on the spot. The mother-in-law tried to intervene and Geetha also attacked her with the rod. 

Geetha then stuffed the body of her dead father-in-law in a sack and took the same to Savalagi police station. She was accompanied by her husband Gurupada. A case against her is registered in the police station. 

Siddarama Malleshanavara had two wives. Gurupada, husband of Geetha is Siddarama’s son from his first wife. Siddarama had married Kalavathi after the death of his first wife. Siddarama used to often visit his son’s house and pester Geetha to have sex with him. Geetha told police that she killed her father-in-law as she could not take the abuse any longer.
