Bangalore: No Kodagu State – CM Reiterates

Bangalore, Jun 30: Chief minister B S Yeddyurappa on Monday June 29 reiterated that Kodagu is an integral part of the state and there is no question of formation of a separate Kodagu state.

Speaking to media persons at his home office, Krishna after receiving memorandums and hearing public grievances, CM said that when the centre consulted the state on the issue, the state stressed that no permission will be granted on these lines and will not budge under pressure. Reacting to the issue of formation of new states including Kodagu CM said that the government promotes the concept of integrated Karnataka.

Steps have been taken for the development of Kodagu in the past and plans are being chalked out for the future development of the region. Kodagu will forever remain part of the state, he stressed.

    Are friends,

    if you need separate states based on language ,geographical area then make each district as separate state.then more development happens.make hindu state,gowds's state,muslim state,christ state etc..what a foolish.now u ask for separate state,then separate country...see what u all people eating its about human food or hard work done by farmers .farmers neither say kannadiga,kodava gowda's etc...

    Dear Freinds,
    It is not a matter of separate identities, we are all part of Hindu culture and civilization, Bharat varsh is what matters but I agree that coastal region -Canara do not belong to the so called Karnataka state. it was a big mistake to create such large states. Coorg will be too small a state to prosper. I support the separate state for Canara (including Karwar- north canara and mangalore-south canara) the whole region west of sahyadri mountains, with capital as Managalore, that way Mangalore will become a metro city like mini-Bombay. I also support a separate state of North Karnataka with capital in Dharwad/Hubli. The present karnataka state can remain as South Karnataka. 3 states are workable, they will all develop together. Especially the culture and landscape of coastal areas of Canara must be separate state- and mangalore its most important city.

    Separate Tulunaadu, Kodagu, Uttara Karnataka has to be formed. I strongly support smaller states. Kannadigas almost destroyed the language Tulu.

    Today may be Kodagu is integral part of Karnatake....but it will never remain tomorrow.... it will be a state & will kick Karnataka out....U fools U drink Kaveri water throughout your life & what have u done for Coorg....one fool was yelling that we need the Support of Kannadigas...who the hell they to decide our fate....

    you cant understand . we will fight for our rights and we will form our kodava state. kodavas are very intelligent,brave people and you kannadigas din see our power still. sons of kaveramma will arise and suppress you foolish kannadigas. jai kodava naad jai kodava jai kaveramma jai igguthappa.

    Dear all: Kodagu was a C state before integrating it with Karnataka. Because of its hilly terrain it was separate from the rest of Mysore state. It is part of Karnataka now because majority Kannadigas who are natives of Coorg live here. If Kodavas want a separate state they should be give some areas in Mysore or Bangalore as they all are migrated/Migrating to those places. Thanks

    I very much agree that Udupi & DK should be a separate State as also Kodagu. Tulu will soon be exitinct if this is not done and our culture is quite different from the rest on the leeward side of the Western Ghats. Moreover, that would be right step towards the ''self governance'' which was the main aim of independence.

    Pastor i agree at your comments on Kodagu and for Kodavas.... but much needed is the support of all kannadigas in karnataka...but it will never happen ..... Even my wish was to have a seperate state from Udupi and South Canara and top part of kasargood as a seperate state as here to the language and cultures are different. If not proposed earlier then it will never happen later as all kannada speaking people will become majaority in this region as they migrate when the city develops and they will never support for this.

    Dear Mr. Yadiyoorappa: Kodagu was once a State under Central government Late Mr. C.M. Poonacha was the Chief Minister and I feel Kodagu people prefer to be having a new state. I am a Kannadiga but Kodagu culture is different and their language is different and they deserve to have their own state. I whole heartedly welcome this idea. Hope every Kannadiga may understand this and vote for Kodau State. Pastor E. W. Frank
