Dubai, Aug 30: A Pakistani and a Filipino vehicle inspector who reportedly allowed defective cars to pass the technical test for licence renewal by accepting a bribe of 750 AED, faced trial on Thursday at the Dubai Court of First Instance.

As reported in Khaleej Times, court documents show that the two technicians enter in the e-system that the cars passed the second test, while in reality the cars had actually failed the first test because of major defects and the owners had been ordered to bring them back for another test. However, the two technicians would not conduct the test and would instead forge the e-data and issue 'passed' reports and collect money for the same.

An Indian and a Pakistani man were also detained and charged for mediating the bribery between the technicians and the motorists. As per police, a source tipped them off about a Pakistani man who always went to the vehicle technical inspection station. "We have been informed that the man would approach motorists, whose vehicles failed the test, offering them help. He would seek amounts of money, which vary depending on the defects." Both the accused were arrested by the CID on October 17, 2018 and are undergoing trial in Dubai court.
