Udupi, Aug 30: On the occasion of 73rd Independence Day, St Milagres Credit Souhardha Co-operative Ltd Udupi Branch organized a programme on Thursday August 29 at Asha Nilaya School for Mentally Retarded Children.
Fr Valerian Mendonca, parish priest, Mother of Sorrows Church Udupi, guest of honour, Vinod Kumar, young entrepreneur from Udupi, Vincent Fernandes, president, Sudharshan Residency Association, Udupi, Ajay Kumar recovery officer, Udupi Division and Jeevan D’Souza, branch manager, St Milagres Credit Souhardha Co-operative Ltd Udupi were present on the dais.
Fr Valerian Mendonca delivered presidential speech on the occasion mentioning the good social work done by the co-operative every year. He also stated that it is good to help and spend some time with the special children giving them things and showing them affection which are necessary. Let the good work with good cause be continued and let the institution grow a long way ahead.
Jeevan D’Souza, branch manager, St Milagres Credit Souhardha Co-operative Ltd Udupi, gave a brief introduction about the institution saying that the programme is conducted every year at Asha Nilaya by distributing necessary things to the children. "Part of the profit is also used toward welfare of society and through this we reach maximum number of people. Not only our branch, but also all 96 branches are involved in these good deeds."
A short cultural Programme was given by the students of the school.
The guest of Honour along with other dignitaries on the dais distributed the 'Hygiene Kit' containing soaps, soap containers, toothpaste and tooth brush, bath towel along with biscuits and juice to the students.
Jovita Rebello, Udupi branch staff welcomed the gathering while vote of thanks was delivered by Jayavijay, headmistress, Asha Nilaya Udupi.
