Mangaluru: 4 new job-oriented courses introduced at Milagres College

Mangaluru, Aug 28: S L Dharmegowda, MLC and deputy chairman of Legislative Council inaugurated the newly introduced Aviation and Hospitality, Travel and Tourism, Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), Mixology and Flaring diploma courses at Milagres College, on Wednesday, August 28. 

Fr Joseph Lobo, correspondent, Milagres Educational Institutions, graced the event as chief guest. Cecilia Pereira, vice president, Parish Council, Milagres Church, Laveena Lobo, vice president, PTA, Prof Lourdusamy, Ivin D’Souza and Ian Rodrigues were present on the dais. 

 

Welcoming the dignitaries and students Fr Michael Santhumayor, principal, Milagres College, said, “Milagres College has introduced four new diploma courses for the students. These courses are first of its kind in the city. This is a golden opportunity for students. All these courses have huge demand and help students to start their careers early.” 

In his inaugural speech, S L Dharmegowda said, “Through my brother, I came to know the history of Milagres College. When I entered the premises of the College, I felt the greatness of this College. It is my pleasure to inaugurate new courses which directly help reduce unemployment and open new doors for youth." 

In his speech Fr Joseph Lobo said, “The management is grateful to principal Fr Michael Santhumayor for taking up the initiative to start job-oriented courses. Our institution not only gives education, but also thinks on setting up a good future for students. The four major courses started at college, help students build their careers in new dimensions. Nowadays, everyone wants to become doctor and engineer. This is not good for economy or employment sector. We should search new ways to explore and convert education into career-oriented one.” 

Later, the guests inaugurated the Honesty Counter which was installed at the college. 

Cassian Rodrigues, vice principal rendered the vote of thanks.

    Its great to know that new courses are started. Its high time that all our institutions take the plunge into different job oriented courses. These courses are the need of the hour and would help our students get more jobs and wide scope in different areas.
