Beltangady, Aug 27: Chaitanya Sathe (36), a native of Phandije of Nittade village of the taluk and presently residing in USA, died in a tragic incident on August 24 when he fell down into a 100-feet deep gorge while climbing mountain at the Smith Rock State Park under the limits of Terraban in Mount Hood Lower Gorge.
Sathe was a member of Mazamas hiking group and had taken part in several mountain climbing operations. However, he slipped and fell as he was descending from Smith Rock Mountain at around 9.40 am on Saturday.
Chaitanya is the son of senior scientist Ramesh Sathe, a native of Phadijesathe house, presently residing in Bengaluru. Chaitanya was also a spiritual and science researcher. After obtaining higher education in Bengalru, Chaitanya was working as a researcher in Illinois University in Urbana-Champaign of USA.
Chaitanya had 11 research works in addition to writing 306 essays and 401 definitions pertaining to research work. He was living in Hillsboro since the past seven years.
Chaitanya has left behind father, mother and a sister.
