Mangaluru, Aug 26: Former chief minister Siddaramaiah will visit Mangaluru on August 31, informed district Congress president Harish Kumar.
Addressing media here on Monday, August 26, Harish Kumar said, "Beltangady taluk is severely affected due to the recent heavy floods. To assess the situation, former chief minister Siddaramaiah will visit flood affected areas. Firstly, the former chief minister will visit Pacchanady dumping yard where several houses are submerged due to garbage landslide. Later, he will proceed to Beltangady. After returning from Beltangady, he will address the party representatives at Town Hall in the city.”
Former minister Ramanath Rai said, "Government has failed to give compensation to the victims of flood-affected areas as expected. Due to flood not only Karnataka, but even other states are severely affected. But Prime Minister Narendra Modi did not pay visit or conduct aerial survey of these areas. When Manmohan Singh was the prime minister, he had done an aerial survey of the areas affected by flood.”
“The KPCC team will visit the flood-affected areas and submit a report and demand appropriate compensation,” said Ramanath Rai.
When asked whether the appointment of Nalin Kumar Kateel as BJP state president will be a blow for the Congress, Ramanath Rai said, "First we should see whether BJP will have a blow to itself by his appointment.”
Former MLA Mohiudeen Bava, Shashidhar Hegde, Naveen D’Souza and others were present.
