Chikkamagaluru, Aug 25: Gangaiah Hegde, father of Cafe Coffee Day (CCD) founder V G Siddhartha Hegde, died in a private hospital on Sunday, August 25.
He was 96.
Gangaiah Hegde was hospitalized much before Siddhartha killed himself by jumping off from the Netravati bridge at Mangaluru on July 31.
Siddhartha had met his father in the hospital before he went to Mangaluru and ended his life. The death of Siddhartha Hegde was not conveyed to his father till the end.

Gangaiah Hegde, who was a coffee planter, was known as a benevolent man who cared for the well being of his employees. He was the one who mentored Siddhartha and lent money to him to found the CCD business empire.
