Bengaluru, Aug 24: State chief minister (CM) B S Yediyurappa is under immense pressure. The central leadership has told him to dissolve the Assembly and face polls if he fails to sort the dissident activities immediately in the newly formed BJP government in state.
Party sources reveal that Yediyurappa was not given appointment to meet BJP president Amit Shah or working president J P Nadda on portfolio allocation despite repeated requests. It is learnt that the BJP top brass is upset with Yediyurappa for delaying portfolio allocation which has led to disgruntlement among MLAs. He has been asked to solve issues at the state level on priority.
Meanwhile, Yediyurappa’s attempts to satisfy the disqualified MLAs are failing. On Friday, the CM, his son B Y Vijayendra and minister C N Aswanth Narayan met eight of them in Delhi. However, they have demanded important portfolios in the cabinet if the Supreme Court overturns their disqualification.
Of the 17 disqualified MLAs, BJP is said to have assured cabinet posts for 12 if the Supreme Court rules in their favour.
The rebel MLAs expressed unhappiness on not being taken to meet Amit Shah and also including Laxman Savadi in the cabinet. The CM returned to Karnataka Bhavan after meeting rebel MLAs and refused to talk to media.
