Spicejet crew falls down during push-back in Mangaluru-bound plane

Bengaluru, Aug 23 (PTI): A cabin crew of a Mangaluru-bound Spicejet flight was injured Friday at Bengaluru airport when she fell down during the push back of the Bombardier Q400 aircraft, according to Press Trust of India source.

The aircraft was taken back to the bay and the airline replaced the crew with the same plane departing for Mangaluru at 8.45 am, the source said.

The airline has confirmed the incident.

"A crew member of flight SG 1035 operating on the Bengaluru-Mangaluru route fell down during the push-back and sustained injuries," said the source without disclosing the nature of injuries on her who is under treatment now.

"During push back, a cabin crew suffered a minor bruise. As a precaution, the pilots decided to take the aircraft back to the bay," the airline said.

    These days airlines are trying too hard to maintain a high level of precision in Departure and Arrival timings .. This is probably linked to the performance benefits of the ground staff ,crew including pilots.

    This probably driving the concerned staff to hurry ..which is why their routine activities are error prone.
    I have sen in many of my recent flights with spice jet,,Indigo etc.. They seem to be in a rush.

    I would attribute the spike in such freak incidents involving Various airlines is stress and pressure on airlines staff to maintain a high degree of accuracy.While they are trained to do such activities ,it might be at times to stressful on the human body and mind

    God,hope she is not injured too much.Hope not any danger to life.Is it needed a female crew to push back? Cant it be maschinell done=Or it costs too much?dangerous acts.why dont they give details about it?wish her good health.

    sorry to object you to say "Is it needed a female crew to push back? " What is wrong if female staff used to push back? u r not mean to say male staff have no value for their life????

    The pushback is done only after the doors are closed. The accident must have happened when she was closing the door getting ready for pushback. The pushback is done by either a tractor or a heavy duty push tractor.
    As regards a male to do the same is absurd as the cabin crew is well trained in those matters and the doors are mechanically assisted for closure and opening which is not very laborious even for female CC to do the necessary action. Secondly, nowadays most flights are female centric and rarely have a male CC on board.
