Udupi, Aug 23: The Rajangana of Sri Krishna Math, Udupi, saw playful and naughty little Krishnas, bringing smiles on faces of all visitors.
The unique sight was because of the Krishna fancy dress competition held as part of Sri Krishna Janmashtami celebrations in Udupi on Friday, August 23.
Parents of the children came early to the venue and were seen adorning their kids with make-up and jewellery to match the Krishna look.
It was delight to see the tiny tots colourfully dressed up in yellow dhotis, peacock feathers tucked in their crowns, necklaces made of pearls and anklets on their feet. With flutes in their hand, some were seen dancing to the music.
When it was time for stage performance, some children started crying and their mothers had to bribe them with ice cream.
Some enthusiastic parents brought props and re-created various episodes of Lord Krishna’s childhood.
A few parents brought their infants to the competition and kept them in cradles. Chubby kids grabbed the attention of the visitors. Many took selfies with the kids dressed up as Krishna.
Scenes from Hindu mythology involving Krishna were recreated on the stage.
The Krishna fancy dress competition was held in three categories at Rajangana, Annabrahma and Madhvangana.
Muddu Krishna was held for children below 3 years, Balakrishna Krishna for children between 3 to 5 years and older children between 5 to 8 years took part in Kishora Krishna competition.
Paryaya Palimaru Swamiji Sri Vidyadheesha, Ishapriaya Swamiji of Admar math and Sri Vidyarajeshwar Theertha Swamiji graced the occasion and blessed the kids.
