Bengaluru, Aug 22: The facility used by the police force of the capital city to verify the passports through 'mPassport App' will be extended to other parts of the state as well.
This information was shared by Bharat Kumar Kuthati, Regional Passport Officer (RPO). He said that the earlier method of police verification was lengthy and time consuming. This method will make the process simple to get the passport.
Bharat Kumar also said that other issues faced by the public while applying for passport will be looked into too. He was speaking in an interactive discussion with the members of Federation of Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FKCCI).
Bharat said that in the passport making or renewing process, police verification is the one issue that is taking a lot of time. He said that the process takes three or four days at their end, while police process is time consuming. Police will be given adequate training by the department in using the app, according to the information given by Bharat.
The app will eliminate the delays related to the police station, in addition to erasing the paperwork. Smartphones or tablets will be used for field processing.
A special window was requested to be given to the FKCCI member to get the passports renewed or for additional booklets or sheets on the passports. The RPO promised to look into their request and also said that there will be no need for such arrangements.
Bharat Kumar also clarified about Annexure E, which most of the commoners are not aware of. "Many people raise their concern with regards to the delay in police verification. For the same reason, we have removed many norms and simplified things. There is an option for the people seeking passport to declare that they do not have any case against them through Annexure E. This should be submitted to the department along with three 'must' documents.
The RPO concluded by saying, "With the declaration of Annexure E, we can go ahead with the process while the police verification can happen on a later date. We trust our citizens."
