Bangalore, Jun 25 (DHNS): The body of a 31-year-old live band artiste was found hanging from the ceiling fan of her Maruthinagar residence at Madiwala on Tuesday night.
The police suspect that the woman, identified as Swapna, a native of Ludhiana in Punjab, committed suicide. They are, however, not ruling out foul play and are examining her husband for leads.
Swapna worked as a live band artiste at Cow Boy in Bangalore Central. Five years back, she met and developed a relationship with Moti Lal, who runs a real estate agency, Balaji Enterprises, in the same area. Though Moti Lal’s parents lived in the vicinity, the couple took up residence on a rented premise at Madiwala.
The police suspect that a possible lifestyle change could be the reason for Swapna taking the extreme step. The police believe that of late Swapna’s earnings had come down drastically, a condition she was unable to accept. Besides, the police believe, she was under “some kind of pressure” from her parents.
Interestingly, the suicide note found in the room in which Swapna’s body was discovered was written on a Hindi newspaper, saying “no one is responsible for the extreme step” she took.
According to neighbours, Swapna was upset as she had a few miscarriages and was longing to have a child. Since her return from Ludhiana a few months ago, Swapna appeared depressed and was not on speaking terms with her husband.
On Tuesday, Moti Lal left home around 4.30 pm and the incident came to light when his brother went to visit Swapna, around 9 pm.
Meanwhile, even after 24 hours, the body remained untouched by the jurisdictional police as Swapna’s mother Prajwal Kaur and her relatives, who are expected to reach here soon, suspect foul play behind Swapna’s death.
Once the police learnt that Kaur boarded a train to Bangalore, they were forced to send the body for post-mortem by Wednesday night.
