Mumbai, Jun 24: Metro-based Ganiga Samaj organized a farewell function to community activist K M Shekar and Shakuntala couple, recently at Eden Auditorium of Sun City Hotel, Andheri (East), here.
K M Shekar had arrived in metro on transfer as assistant chief manager of Vijaya Bank, here two and a half years ago. Throughout his service in the metro, he has strived for the community welfare and was actively involved in all the programmes of this community organization. Shekar and Shakuntala couple was bid farewell by Ganiga Samaj since he was transferred to Bangalore branch.
Ganiga Samaj president Jagannat M Ganiga presided over the programme.
Samaj vice president Kutpady Ramachandra Ganiga, education committee president Vijayendra Ganiga and U Balachandra were also present at the dais.
K M Shekar, while acknowledging the felicitation accorded to him by community, said that he was moved by the concern of the community brethrens throughout his stay in the metro.
Shakuntala said that they are not worthy of any special honour. Meanwhile, they cherish the love, trust, empathy and support bestowed on them by the community, she said.
Samaj chief secretary B V Raman compered the programme. Treasurer Chandrashekar proposed vote of thanks.
