Mangalore, June 24: The South Canara District Central Co-operative (SCDCC) Bank Limited has earned a net profit of Rs 7.59 crore during the financial year ended on March 31.
Addressing media persons on Tuesday June 24, SCDCC Bank chairman M N Rajendra Kumar said the bank has collected deposits worth Rs 786.01 crore through its 54 branches and lent loans worth Rs 689.61 crore, which is an achievement in itself, he said. He added that the bank recorded good performance despite lending loans at a lower interest rate to farmers.
Kumar stating that the overall turnover of the bank was Rs 1,475.62 crore, said that with this achievement, the bank had surpassed the target of Rs 1,350 crore business set. The bank also has the distinction of achieving 100 per cent recovery of agricultural loan for the past 14 years, he added.
Speaking about the achievements with respect to extending help to agriculturists under various schemes, Kumar said that a total of 62,574 farmers were brought under the Mangala Kisan Credit Card Scheme, while personal insurance facility were extended to 50,494 card holders. This apart, a total of 84,442 farmers in Udupi and 73,888 farmers in Dakshina Kannada district were covered under Yashaswini Health Insurance Scheme, he said that a total of 12,626 members have already availed medical benefits as in-patients and out-patients under the scheme.
