Udupi, Aug 21: The facility of resting room will be available for use by the women employees and visitors to the office of the deputy commissioner (DC) here henceforth. The resting room, which has become a reality on account of special interest evinced by outgoing deputy commissioner of the district, Hephsiba Rani Korlapati, who was aware of the problems faced by women employees and women visitors to her office, is slated to meet all the requirement of women.
This room is equipped with separate restroom, dining table, cot with bed for taking rest, etc. For the mothers accompanied by children, a wooden cradle for the babies, and changing room have also been provided. The restrooms here are equipped with napkin burning system. In the coming days, napkin vending machine would be installed where napikins would be dispenses to those who insert specific amount of coins in the slot.
The DC's office has large number of women officers and staff. The women during their menstrual cycles can take rest in this room and then resume work. For lady employees who report to work after maternity leave, can arrange their babies to be brought to the office where they can feed them and send them back home. This resting room, in a nutshell, is proposed to be a solution for all the problems faced by women which they may hesitate to share with others.
Hephsiba Rani Korlapati understood the problems faced by the women, being a woman herself, and took special interest in getting this resting room sanctioned for use of women. It was inaugurated on Tuesday August 20.
