Mangaluru, Aug 20: In a case pertaining to the threat posed by MP, Nalin Kumar Kateel, that the entire district would be set afire if murder accused relating to the killing of Karthik Raj which happened two years back were not arrested forthwith, the MP has got temporary relief.
On Monday August 19, the high court issued interim stay against the proceedings going on in a subordinate court against Nalin Kumar Kateel in respect of the above case.
Through his petition, Kateel had prayed the high court to quash the chargesheet and the first information report registered against him in Konaje police station. The single bench of the high court presided over by Justice P S Dinesh Kumar heard his petition.
Advocate, Arun Shyam, arguing on behalf of Kateel, alleged that the said case was filed with political motives against the petitioner and said that the police have not provided any evidence in support of the charges levelled. He therefore requested the bench to dismiss the first information report and chargesheet.
