Mumbai, Aug 19: To escape the wrath of his family, a young boy weaved an intense web of lies.
A video had the minor alleging that a man tried to kidnap him, but fled when he called out for help. The boy's aunt appeared in the video and asserted that the police did not file a complaint.
Until Sunday evening, police inquired into the matter after being instructed by the joint police commissioner (law & order) Vinay Choubey. A kidnapping case was also registered by Bhoiwada police station according to the instructions of Choubey.
Later that day, a senior officer discovered something out of the ordinary. He found that the minor was lying all along to escape admonitions by his family. "The boy reached home late and was scared of being reprimanded," the senior officer said.
