Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (MS)

Mangaluru, Aug 19: The district administration has repaired and rebuilt the Banjaru Male and Kukkavu bridges within a record time of 24 hours.

Both Banjaru Male and Kukkavu bridges were washed away during recent deluge. The district administration, which took the repairing and reconstruction of these bridges as a challenge, worked on war footing speed and completed the work in just 24 hours.

In Banjaru Male, the work of the new metal bridge is done by standing on the old wooden bridge itself. In addition, 22 people have stood on the bridge and checked its weight bearing capacity also. This bridge is constructed using precast technology by the PWD engineers.

In Kukkavu, pedestrian and vehicle movement was allowed from Monday, August 19 after it was repaired using mud.

@ Banjaru Male, Kukkavu bridges rebuilt within 24 hours_It is oaky and commendable job by the district administration. But what about the life of the bridge. Will it be a temporary bride or last longing.Any guarantee?.Is it worth for the movement of the light vehicles. If it is worth for the movement of the light vehicles,it can attract more tourists thereby district administration can generate more income because of tourists visiting this area.Whether work done on this bridge on record time is dependable or after few months another bridge to be built within eighteen hours.
Whatever be your time, whether it is 24 hours or 48 hours, let bridge be very strong and sustainable at least in the best interest of the public who use this bridge on daily basis as their easiest mode of link connecting both ends.Anyhow congratulations for the entire team for completing this bridge in a record time of 24 hours.

This place is not less than Kashmir. But building the bridge at the same height which washed away is not a logical approach but only a temporary solution.

I would request the District Administrator consider the bridge for light vehicles movement so that this place can be used for tourism that will generate the income to the local people. The local's cal also uses it to sell forest products for additional income.
