Mangaluru, Aug 18: Prakash Tuminad, who bagged the best comedian award at the SIIMA Awards-2019, was received with a rousing welcome at Mangaluru International Airport by family members and friends on Sunday, August 18
Prakash Tuminad was welcomed with garlands, flower bouquets and sweets by his mother, wife, child, relatives, friends and artistes of Sharada Arts, Manjeshwar who had arrived to the airport to receive him.
Thanking everyone for the grand welcome, Prakash said, “It is an emotional moment for me. I never thought that I will win such a big award. I thank director Rishab Shetty for finding an artiste inside me and giving me an important role in his movie. Secondly, I thank the people of Tulunadu and Karnataka who watched my acting and voted me for the award. I am dedicating my award to them because they recognized my talent and blessed me. At the same time, I am grateful to my family, co-artistes of Tulunadu and supporters.”
Speaking to Daijiworld some of Prakash’s friends expressed their dissatisfaction on the absence of representatives of Coastalwood and Tulu drama world for welcoming Prakash. They said “For the first time, an artiste of Tulunadu has bagged such a prestigious and glamorous award. It is a proud moment for the entire coastal region. But it is really sad to note that no one took this seriously and hesitated from their duty of honouring an artiste from their soil.”
Prakash Tuminad bagged the best comedian award for his role in the Kannada movie ‘Sarkari. Hi. Pra. Shale Kasaragodu, Koduge: Ramanna Rai’, which released last year. Being a contract worker and part time drama artiste, Prakash had a dream to show his face on television. But reserved and soft spoken Prakash did not have any contacts to reach the television screen and many times he himself thought it will remain as only a dream. But unexpectedly he got a chance for Kannada movie ‘Ondu Motteya Kathe’ directed by Raj B Shetty. Prakash got a huge appreciation for his acting in the movie ‘Ondu Motteya Kathe’. Later Rishab Shetty picked Prakash for his ‘Sarkari. Hi. Pra. Shale Kasaragodu, Koduge: Ramanna Rai ’, which made a huge wave in Sandalwood.
The eighth edition of South Indian International Movie Awards function was held in Qatar. The two-day event was attended by celebrities from all the four South Indian film industries. Telugu Megastar Chiranjeevi, Tamil actor Dhanush, Mohan Lal from Malayalam and many leading actors and directors graced the prestigious award function.
Yash was the winner of Pantaloons SIIMA Best Actor in Leading Role 2019 (Kannada) for KGF Chapter 1.
